Kerala kadalai Curry

Ingredients

  • Channa - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1
  •  Tomato -1
  • Green chilli - 2
  • chilli powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ginger& Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste.
  • Oil - 1 table spoon



Fry:

  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Coconut - 3 table spoon
  • chilli -5
  • coriander seed- 1 tablesppon
  • small onion - 5
  • cinnamon stick - 2"  piece
  • Aniseed - 1 teaspoon
  • cardamom - 2
  • clove - 3
  • Curry leaf - 10

Method


  • Soak channa in water for atleast 8 hours..
  • Heat oil in a pan fry chilli ,coriander seed,cinnamon stick ,Aniseed cardamom ,clove for few minutes then add small onion ,coconut and curry leaf till coconut turns light yellow. After it cools grind it with little water.


  • Cut onion,chilli and tomato into cubes.
  • In a Pressure cooker add little oil and put one cinnaman stick and bay leaf, after 3 seconds add onion,  Green chilli, when onion become transparent add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes. Now add tomato .
  • When tomato is cooked add chilli powder and kadalai. Cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
  • Open the cooker when itcools on its way. check whether the kadalai become soft. if not pressure cook another 1 whistle.
  • Now add salt and coconut masala mixture. Let it boil well in slow flame and when curry become thick stop the flame. 
  • Kerala kadalai curry is ready.
